Attractions in Fife

Fife is a very popular holiday destination for golfer, fishing, bird watchers, wind surfers, kite surfers, nature lovers, and cyclists. Many of Fife's top attractions can be seen from the areas cycle ways.

One of the longest cycle ways on the Kingdom Route is the Howe of Fife route which connects St Andrews, Ceres, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Burntisland, Aberdour, Inverkeithing, Dunfermline, Kinross, Newburgh, Tayport, and Leuchars.

The East Neuk cycle way lies between Anstruther, Pittenweem, and Troywood with the main attraction along the route being the Scottish Fisheries Museum at Anstruther, which has an award winning museum about the history of fishing in Scotland.

Popular attractions include the Fife Folk Museum in Ceres, Ravenscraig Castle in the east of Kirkcaldy, Black Sands, which is a small and quiet beach to the south of Aberdour, Abbot House Dunfermline - one of the oldest houses in the ancient capital of Scotland.

Other attractions include the Secret Bunker which was a former nuclear bunker hidden 100 feet below a farmhouse in Troywood.

Kellie Castle northwest of Pittenweem is the former home of the Earls of Kellie which has a very beautiful garden filled with fruit trees, roses, and herbaceous plants.

Check out Falkland Palace in the Howe of Fife, Culross Palace in West Fife, Kilminning Coast Wildlife Reserve which is northeast of Crail, one of the most popular nature reserves in Fife which has many species including oystercatchers, cormorants, gannets, eider ducks and stonechats.
